Organised by Oxford Policy Management (OPM) and funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), this joint webinar brings together research from OPM, World Bank, International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), Research on Improving Systems of Education (RISE) , Young Lives, Gender and Adolescence: Generating Evidence (GAGE) and University of Oxford, which has been conducted in Ethiopia since the onset of the pandemic in Ethiopia, together covering a sample of more than 10,000 households.
The focus of the session will be on how the findings from these studies could be used to inform current policy responses to COVID-19 in Ethiopia and to engage with key stakeholders and policymakers within the Government of Ethiopia in the design of the next stages of the research in order to ensure that they are appropriately tailored for policy responses.
Our teams will present on the topics of; the overall picture of pandemic in Ethiopia (national, urban/rural, and across cities), food security, livelihood, health and mental health, education, youth, women and the gendered response as well as examining the response through both urban and rural perspectives. Our experts will also look at comparisons in their findings across these themes. This is the first webinar which brings together policymakers within the Government of Ethiopia and researchers from different organisations to discuss and share findings in order to help inform policy design and responses to COVID-19.
