Run up to the Summit for the Future: Learning from adolescent well-being in Bangladesh, challenges and priorities

15 May
09:30-17:00 (GMT +6:00)
GAGE
Amari Hotel, Dhaka

This stakeholder workshop aims to strengthen relationships and partnerships amongst actors working on adolescent wellbeing in Bangladesh, and to align with national efforts to harmonise support and data with development partners and exchange challenges and good practices with relevant government ministries. In addition, the event aims to contribute to country preparations for the Summit of the Future in September 2024 which will focus on how to ‘better meet the needs of the present while also preparing for the challenges of the future’.

In addition to shining a spotlight on the state of progress against SDG indicators linked to adolescent wellbeing, as well as highlight SDG indicators where data and progress are lagging, the focus of the event will be on interconnected priority themes for adolescent wellbeing in Bangladesh, including:

  • Education and skills building
  • Gender-based violence and child marriage
  • Psychosocial wellbeing

During the event, we will:

  • Disseminate research with international and national actors (policy makers, government officials, academics, INGO/NGO practitioners, donors, youth researchers) and explore avenues for maximizing the uptake of evidence.
  • Consult with cross-sectional stakeholders on the research recommendations and suggestions to strengthen policies and programmes for Bangladeshi and Rohingya adolescents.
  • Coalesce around an adolescent agenda, inclusive of key priorities for young people in Bangladesh.
  • Contribute to country preparations for the Summit of the Future
