Adolescents, who make up more than one-fifth of the total population in Bangladesh, are facing specific risks related to the discontinuation of and loss of access to education, the effects of personal and household financial crisis, and adverse impacts on psychosocial well-being, in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
Last year we undertook a baseline research for the Adolescent Support Programme of the Ministry of Education, supported by the World Bank. The objective of the research was to understand adolescents’ experience of transition from childhood to adulthood and to explore the effects of adolescent-focused programmes. Based on this research, we prepared two reports – a baseline report, and a second report focusing on the COVID impact, on the lived realities and experiences of adolescents attending secondary school in the Chittagong and Sylhet Divisions of Bangladesh.
We cordially invite you to join our webinar where we will launch the two reports, highlight the poverty, education and psychosocial health aspects of both the baseline and COVID related surveys and qualitative research, and suggest recommendations to strengthen policies and programmes for adolescents.
