Child marriage and FGM
Female genital mutilation and child marriage are core threats to girls’ bodily integrity.
GAGE research focuses on the drivers of these forms of violence against girls, how
incidence and patterning are evolving (or not), and the broader and longer-term
consequences for girls’ lives.
GAGE pays particular attention to differences across contexts and communities because
similar outcomes for girls can hide a diversity of antecedents and practices. GAGE
research also explores which messages and messengers work best to protect the bodily
integrity of diverse groups of girls.
