On the occasion of the 63rd Commission on the Status of Women the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, UNICEF and the GAGE consortium coordinated by ODI invite you to attend:

Gender- and Adolescent-Responsive Social Protection: Unleashing the Potential of Social Protection for Adolescent Girls and Women

Location: Conference Room 1 (CR1), United Nations Headquarters, New York, NY 10017

Time: 10:00 – 11:15 EST

Social protection can improve adolescent girls' lives today and transform their futures.

This event is a chance to hear from leading voices in social protection how programmes can better address life course vulnerabilities and break inter-generational cycles of poverty. It will demonstrate the need for adolescent- and gender-responsive policy, programmes and research to build effective social protection systems.

Over the last decade, the understanding of adolescence as a critical window of opportunity to accelerate development has increased, yet social protection systems still do not systematically target the needs of adolescents, especially the promotion of gender equality. A new approach will ensure no girl or woman is left behind.
