As laid out in the Ten Years Development Plan (Ministry of Planning and Development (MoPD), 2020), as well as sectoral policies and commitments to international objectives (including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Pact for the Future), the Ethiopian government is intent on ensuring that its large and growing population of children and youth have access to the services, rights and work that they need to secure their own futures – and transform the country into an economic and social ‘Beacon of Prosperity’ for Africa (ibid.).
